The Estate’s Hacienda Reserve Affogato
A signature estate affogato inspired by the classic Italian dessert, with an easy-to-find brown butter ice cream, layered with notes of dark chocolate, citrus, cinnamon, and coffee traditions rooted in Mexican and Black + Southern American culinary heritage.

The Hacienda Affogato came from my desire for a richer affogato combination. As I explored gelato and ice cream options outside of vanilla at the Harris Teeter grocery store, I found the perfect one. It was the Brown Butter Bourbon Truffle ice cream from Private Selection. You can find this brand at Harris Teeter and other Kroger grocery stores. This ice cream would provide the richer base that I was looking for. This ice cream brought in flavors found in Black + Southern culinary food such as bourbon and brown butter flavors. The cinnamon and piloncillo blend and orange zest toppings were inspired by Mexican culinary flavors.
The result was a perfect indulgent espresso dessert.

The Estate’s Hacienda Reserve Affogato
A cinematic estate-style affogato layered with espresso, dark chocolate, citrus, and warm spice inspired by Mexican and Black American coffee traditions.
☕ Ingredients
🍧 2 scoops brown butter bourbon truffle ice cream
☕ 2 shots freshly brewed espresso(or 3 shots for a bolder espresso finish)
🍫 1 tbsp finely shaved 72% dark chocolate
🇲🇽 1/8 tsp cinnamon-piloncillo blend
🍊 Fresh orange zest, for garnish
